I M GLAD TO BE ALIVE !!!

Whoever said "Death comes on swift wings" was wrong coz in Mumbai "Death comes on four wheels". Yesterday I had a near-death experience and was left thanking God on my knees for saving me coz I m not yet ready to die..

I was going to the airport on my trusty steed ( my bike - CBZ ). Ever since one of my friends met with a comparatively serious bike accident during our final year, I have made it a point to always wear a helmet while riding. One of my biggest fears bout being involved in an accident is something happening to my head.. Its not the looks that I m worried bout coz by now I have learned to accept the fact that God hasnt been too generous to me in that particular aspect. Nor do i have a muscular frame others would be jealous about.. The one thing , I beleive, that has led me thus far in life is whats there inside my head and i dare not mess with it..

So the things to be understood from the previous bragalogue are:
1. This blogger is ugly.
2. You wont confuse between this guy n Arnie Schwarzenneger.
3. You would inflate his ego by comparing his brains to that of Einstein..

Ok now for the guys who were sensible enough to skip the previous 2 paragraphs - I was riding along the Western Express Highway in Mumbai. There was a Skoda in front of me and like all Rich Fuckers ( I admit I dream of being one someday ) he was driving as though he owned the road. Me and another bike ( an Entizer) were riding along on the lane adjacent to the Skoda and just behind it. Speeds in the mid 50's ( average bordering on lower side for the Express Highways). It was all going fine when all of a sudden the Skoda just swerves suddenly onto our lane and bang in front of us. Myself and the Entizer waala slam on the brakes in a desperate attempt to avoid ramming into the skoda. End Result- both our bikes start skidding and its like both our bikes are doing some kind of a formation dance on the road as both ur bikes swerve dangerously from side to side.. And then disaster strikes and both the bikes fall down on the busy road. He falls over to the left and I to the right.

I fell in front of an oncoming Scorpio and he in front of a BEST bus. Now these BEST ( Bombay Electricity Supply and Transport Corporation ) buses are the best governement owned buses I have seen anywhere - clean , punctual and all. They are heaven when compared to DTC ( Delhi Transport Corporation ) and WBSTC ( West Bengal State Transport Corporation ) buses.

I once again apologise for drifting away from the topic.. So where was I ??? oh yeahhh... I fell in front of an oncoming Scorpio and he in front of a BEST bus. Theres loud screeching noises as both the bus driver and the Scorpio driver make desperate attempts to stop their vehicles. Iwas lying on the road in the path of the oncoming Scorpio with my eyes wide open. I could see the Scorpio coming in but was somehow immobilized for the moment. I watched dumbstruck as the tyres of the Scorpio came agonizingly close. For one fleeting moment I thought I was done for. Then mercifully the bonnet of the scorpio pressed down as it does when u apply a sudden brake and ur car comes to a stop. The Entizer waala too had a similar experience.

The Scorpio driver jumped out of the car and helped me up to my legs ( Thanks to him coz I felt that my legs had suddenly turned to jelly ). I murmur a thanks to him which though dint come out properly was really said from my heart. I inspect myself from top to bottom. no bones broken and nop visible injury.. No bloodshed at all... I thank my stars yet again. I proceed to examining my bike, Nothing broken... just a few scratches here n there. All is fine but theres a problem. I cant find one of my ACGs(a kind of sandals). I was sure that when I left home I had put on both of them. I start searching for it when to my surprise I finbd that it has flown out of my leg and is lying peacefully under the BEST bus. I peacefully go retreive my ACG thankful to God that my leg was not in it when it was lying under the bus.

Meanwhile all the other people have cornered the Skoda driver and are foulmouthing him like hell. He is visbly drunk and luckily enough for him , he decides to remain quite. I however dont join in the foulmouthing coz I m busy thankin God for his mercy and am looking at all the things around me as though I am seeing them for the first time.

I then mount my trusy but bruised steed and continue on my journey to the airport where a friend was waiting for me. I do not return to normal until the two of us have entered a pub and I have taken a shot to calm my nerves.

All you guys who know me know how much I value life and how much I intend to enjoy this one life that God has given me. But one thing has to be said - ever since this accident every little thing in this world has become much much more beautiful to my eyes. I AM GLAD I 'M ALIVE.
